Thursday

Brake your concentration.

I just think it's funny when you're hanging out at a stop light, staring mindlessly across the intersection at the stopped cars facing you, when suddenly out of the blue, one car just jolts into spasms, near rear-ending the car in front as it plunges toward the bumper. Through the windshield you will see a panick-striken driver slamming on the brakes or possibly stalling the car out.
What is going on in there? I just want to walk over and tap on the window, "Excuse me? is everything alright? are you capable of operating this vehicle? because it seems like sitting at a stop light is far too challenging for you. Maybe you should consider turning over your license."
Any of you who have carelessly inched their way into a rear-ending (incident upon which one is  rear-ended. did I just make that up?) know exactly what I'm talking about. How embarrassing was that for you by the way? Giving your road neighbor in front a little love tap? (A friend actually did it to me on accident once-or so she claims- needless to say I no longer wish to be lead car in the caravan!) After the mini-crash wake up call, you get to do the uber-apologetic-i'm-really-sorry-but-don't-worry-there's-no-damage-unless-you-want-to-make-an-issue-of-this-and-get-out-and-see-for-yourself-or-just-write-me-off-as-a-moron-and-drive-away-shaking-your-head-while-I-slink-off-to-no-where conversation. Good times. You only wish you could have been so lucky to be the spasm jolting car driver instead.
Moral of the story: keep your foot on the brakes!
